Tipple Tails Makes the Shortlist in the Great British Food Awards 2016

Much excitement here at Tipple Tails HQ this week as we have been shortlisted for the prestigious Great British Food Awards.

We are especially thrilled that our Cherry Orchard Fruit Cake has made the shortlist in the Sweet Bakes Category as the organisers have said that there was “an unprecedented number of entries this year with the submissions being extremely high”

The Awards were launched in 2014 to celebrate the country’s finest home-grown ingredients, as well as the hard-working folk who produce and cook with them. Here at Tipple Tails, our philosophy is to do things really well and take the time to enjoy the simple pleasures in life.  We work hard to source quality ingredients from local businesses using only the finest ingredients to produce our moist delicious cakes.

The butter comes from Longley Farm in Holmfirth, free range eggs from Dunsford Bridge, & flour, milled in Driffield by Bradshaws.  Vine & glace fruits, nuts, sugar & spice are from Shepcote, a family wholesaler, also in Driffield & S Hukin, a long-standing wholesale business in Sheffield.  The boozy fruit cakes are infused with the award winning Boozy Infusion liqueurs from Beatson House in Cawthorne just a few miles from the kitchen; the ‘tea-total fruit cake slice’ with tea blended by Birdhouse Tea Company in Sheffield & Sheffield Honey.

Each cake is hand crafted with great care, is big on flavour and is really good to eat – just lovely, uncomplicated food.

In fact, we’ve already been lucky to win 2 Guild of Fine Food Great Taste Awards.  Our Cherry Orchard fruit cake achieved a 1 gold star status in 2013, then the following year we received a 2 star status for Ginger Tingle fruit cake.  We also received a Highly Commended in the Taste of Yorkshire Awards last year and have again been shortlisted for these awards  this year.

The Sweet Bakes Category is to be judged by Edd Kimber winner of the inaugural Great British Bake Off in 2010 and author of 3 Cook Books – The Boy Who Bakes, Say it with Cake and Patisserie Made Simple.  The winners are to be announced beginning of September – so fingers crossed for our Cherry Orchard Fruit Cake!
